* MUSEUM VISIT

* GROUNDS AND GARDENS

George Washington is called the American Cincinnatus for his greatness, Republican ideas, and giving up ultimate power to return to the life as a farmer. Walk and learn about the three gardens of Mt. Vernon, gaze upon the majestic Tulip Poplar Washington planted himself, and how Washington transformed Mt. Vernon into his ‘pleasure grounds’.

* TOUR THE MANSION

Take in the majestic ‘New Room’, poke your head into the informal parlor where Martha kept her song birds, see the room where the Marquise de Lafayette slept, reflect on the Washington’s private bedroom and original bed where George Washington died, and see George Washington’s man cave, his private study. As you enter the New Room and exit George Washington’s study, you are literally walking in the Great Man’s footsteps.
